Self-Care Skincare Routine

Whilst I’m away this week, I’ve been thinking about all the extra skincare products we use just as a treat.

Now for someone who loves products as much as I do, they usually make regular appearances regardless! However I’m more than aware that for most, this in not the case. So here is my 3 Step, Self-Care Skincare Routine for when you need a little extra pampering....

(Double cleanse initially to remove your makeup. Use your fluffiest flannel and ensure the water is

lovely and warm)

Step 1 - A Gentle Granular Exfoliator. My personal favourite is the Dermaquest Algae Polishing Scrub. It’s smells devine and works like a charm. Exfoliator aids with desquamation (the natural shedding of dead skin cells) and the algae in this particular product helps to attract water to the skin. Even if you stopped after this step, your serums would absorb beautifully!

Step 2 - An Exfoliating Face Mask. An exfoliating mask contains AHAs/BHAs to gently de-clog the pores, provide anti-ageing benefits and an instant radiant glow. The Dermaquest Mini Pumpkin Mask is a perfect example. If you’re concerned with blemishes look for products containing Salicylic, if it’s ageing look for Glycolic and Lactic is amazing for dehydration.

Step 3 - Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Now call me excessive but, at this point I like to apply a second mask and it’s usually Hyaluronic Acid based. Once your complexion is deeply cleansed and exfoliated your skin can absorb the hydration much easier. The Dermaquest Hydrating Gel Mask is AMAZING for plumping and firming the skin and also works wonderfully on a plane, to prevent you arriving on your hols like a shrivelled prune. If you’ve got some Eye Masks, get those on too!

The bath is my sanctuary so I like to complete the above routine whilst I soak, however that’s just personal preference. Once you’ve completed the 3 Step Self-Care Routine, simply apply your serums, moisturisers or oils as usual. Your skin will be baby soft, nourished and radiant.

I read somewhere last week that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply relax! And this routine honours just that.

Don’t wait til your holidays or the weekend for a bit of self-care, make a little time everyday just for you!
