How to Treat Back Acne...

Over the weekend I conducted a poll on Instagram to see if anyone would find a blog on Back Acne useful and I was amazed by the results! If you’re currently suffering, I promise you’re not alone!


The answer was a resounding YES! So today I’m going to give you some top tips on how to banish the blemishes from your back!

#1 Shower as soon as you’ve finished exercising! Now this may sound pretty basic but, recently I’ve started working out a little more seriously and initially I broke out quite badly! I’d finish my workout, eat breakfast, THEN have a shower...this is a big no-no! Jump in the shower straight after to wash away the sweat and stop it clogging your pores. It makes such a difference!


#2 Use exfoliating products such as AHAs or BHAs (glycolic, lactic, salicylic etc) on your back in the shower. It may be quite challenging to find body washes containing these ingredients but you can always use a face cleanser instead! If not, look for products containing tea tree.


#3 Loose fitting tops for workouts also help! Tight clothing can trap dirt and sweat in the pores leading to breakouts. Looser tops help the skin to ‘breathe’ and let the sweat run free 😉


#4 Try to keep long hair off of your back. Put it up when exercising and be careful to ensure you rinse away shampoo and conditioner from your back when in the shower. These products can be highly irritating for the skin.


#5 Eat healthily. Foods with a high GI (glycemic index) cause your blood sugar to spike and can make acne worse once it arrives. Try to eat a healthy, nutritious, balanced diet and increase your water intake.
