How to Cure a Complexion Hangover

With all the Halloween and Bonfire Night parties this weekend, I thought it’d be appropriate to cover the topic of a complexion hangover. You know the kind of morning...You wake up completely dehydrated with creases in your face from where you nose-dived into the pillow and you’ve accumulated mascara sleepers in the corner of your eyes....delightful 😉

Here’s exactly how to save your face...

Number 1: You’ve already guessed it, reach for the water! Rehydrating is the first step to recovering your skin. If you’re feeling particularly rough, sip it slowly! Green Tea is also amazing if you can handle it and I find fizzy water easier to drink on a hangover?!

Number 2: Do a double cleanse in the morning. If you’ve managed to get your makeup off the night before, I’m proud of you! Chances are though you haven’t been as thorough as you usually would be. Cleanse twice just to ensure you’ve got a fresh, clean canvas to work on. Choose your most hydrating formula on this occasion.

Number 3: Find a face mask. The more packed full of Hyaluronic Acid, the better. Leave it as long as possible to absorb and just remove the excess. Your skin will drink it up.

Number 4: Facial massage. This is a saviour when you’re hungover. Try drainage massage initially to help remove the toxins. You do this by using firm, sweeping movements in the direction of your lymph nodes. As a VERY basic guide, drain from your jawline to the base of your neck and from your nose out towards your ears. This works even better with a cold massage tool such as a cryo ball, ice globes or you can make your own at home. Simply pop some ice cubes in a face cloth and wrap them into a ball. Use your tool to conduct the above drainage technique.

Number 5: Take care of your eyes! Apply your eye cream and really take the time to gently massage the area. Cooling this area is also transformative. If you keep your eye masks in the fridge, this is the perfect time to utilise them! If you’re thinking ‘Skincare in the fridge is a step too far, Amy’ then cut some slices of cucumber or cold teabags are also a winner! The caffeine really helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness.

Continue to drink plenty throughout the day and get some much needed rest. You’ll be exceptionally well prepped for Monday 😊

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend!
