I absolutely love the run up to Christmas but as we’re already busy people, it can be slightly overwhelming! Your complexion is often a map of your general well-being and as this is the season of giving, I HIGHLY encourage you to give YOURSELF some well‐deserved TLC. We’ve got Christmas parties and festive gatherings galore to attend, so here are a few very simple tips for ensuring you’ll be radiant without breaking the bank.
Move your body
We all know that moving your body makes such a difference to your overall health, but it’s incredible for the skin too. Increased circulation caused by exercise helps to improve the functions of your skin and speeds up the delivery of nutrients. You don’t need to be going for hour long runs to achieve this, in fact you don’t even have to leave the house!
Two of my favourite online trainers are available on YouTube for FREE – ‘Lucy Wyndham‐Read’ makes brilliant 7‐minute workout videos that I do on a regular basis and then there’s ‘Yoga with Adriene’. Adriene offers a wonderful range of yoga sessions from her channel and her voice alone completely chills me out! These girls have got you covered and I’m not kidding when I say I instantly see the benefits in my face and feel them in my mind…even when I have less than 10 minutes!
SIDENOTE: If you prefer to go to class, Jennie Castle Yoga based at Willington Hall (Tarporley) is amazing!! I’m going to make time in the New Year to ensure I can catch these classes again.
Facial Massage
Are any of you feeling that slight tightness in your skin as we begin the season of running between the freezing cold and the central heating?! It’s extremely dehydrating for our poor complexions but can be treated. In order to increase product penetration and improve lymph flow (removal of toxins) make sure you’re massaging your face. The best time to do this is when you’re cleansing or applying your moisturiser/oil. You don’t need any particular training or technique for this, just work the skin, include lifting movements and if all else fails, use little butterfly tapping motions and you can’t go too far wrong.
The ‘at home’ Spa
I know this is a hectic time of year, but it is more than acceptable to have the night off. I love taking an hour or so to turn the house into a little sanctuary. By this I mean turn the TV off, dim the lights, burn some candles and take a bath. Get a face mask out and simply relax. Try to avoid your phone, perhaps read a book instead or if you can handle it, simply do nothing and enjoy the moment. Get your pyjamas and the bed ready beforehand so that once you’re done, you can hop straight in and drift calmly off to sleep. Beauty sleep is of paramount importance for the skin…stress is not so good. Remember to prioritise self‐care, it’s more than worth it and you’ll notice the difference in your complexion. Happy people glow!
